GAINESVILLE, Fla. – In a significant development, Keyonna Lakia Taylor, 24, has been taken into custody following accusations of threatening another woman’s life through live social media videos.
According to a report by an officer from the Gainesville Police Department, the alleged incidents occurred on May 13 and May 14. During this period, Taylor is said to have broadcasted two videos on Facebook Live, lasting 27 and 38 minutes each. In these recordings, Taylor allegedly directed multiple threats toward the victim, who is identified as the sister of her ex-boyfriend’s current partner.
The victim, having stumbled upon the live streams while they were ongoing, managed to screen-record the videos. These recordings were subsequently presented to the police as evidence.
In the video streamed on May 13, Taylor reportedly made specific threats, stating her intentions to “spit on” and “pistol whip” the victim and a man, although she refrained from directly naming the victim, only referring to her as a “girlfriend’s sister.”
On May 14, Taylor reportedly referred to the victim by her first and last name and said, “I’m talking about you!” She allegedly threatened to hit the victim with her car, trip her, and beat her, along with saying the victim was lucky she “didn’t have no [expletive] Glock, all you [expletive] woulda been down!” The officer notes that while the statement was “theoretical in nature,” it “communicates a desire and/or willingness to utilize a firearm” against the victim.
The officer noted that Taylor’s face was clearly captured in both videos.
Taylor has been charged with stalking and making a written threat to kill. She has one misdemeanor conviction (non-violent), and Judge Meshon Rawls ordered her held without bail pending a hearing on a motion from the State Attorney’s Office to hold her without bail until trial; if the judge denies the motion, bail will be set at that hearing.
