GAINESVILLE, Fla. – In a dramatic and unsettling incident, Anquitte Latifah Quinn, aged 35, was apprehended last night following allegations of a violent confrontation that escalated into a dangerous vehicular assault. This troubling event unfolded when Quinn reportedly pursued another woman to her residence, brandishing a firearm, and subsequently striking her with a vehicle.

The Gainesville Police Department responded to the distressing scene at approximately 9:33 p.m. on December 2, after receiving emergency calls reporting a pedestrian being struck by a car. Upon arrival, officers discovered the victim suffering from severe injuries.

According to a witness account, the situation began outside the victim’s home. The witness recounted that Quinn confronted the victim, initiating an argument. At one point, Quinn allegedly pointed a gun at the victim, exclaiming with hostility, “I’m going to shoot you in the [expletive] face!” while holding the weapon dangerously close.

The tension between Quinn and the victim escalated further as they reportedly decided to relocate to another area to settle their dispute physically, with Quinn expressing concern about potential aggression during their heated exchange. The witness described how the confrontation continued as the victim walked along the 1200 block of SW 16th Avenue, with Quinn trailing in her car. Amidst the shouting match, Quinn suddenly accelerated her vehicle toward the victim. Despite the victim’s attempts to evade the oncoming car, she was struck.

Remarkably, after being hit, the victim managed to cling to the side of the car. However, Quinn allegedly sped away with the victim still perilously hanging on, adding a dangerous dimension to the already volatile situation.

The victim said Quinn slammed on her brakes after a few yards, causing her to fall to the ground. She also said this was not the first time that Quinn has attacked and threatened her, and the officer concluded that Quinn’s actions in following the victim and witness across town, pointing a gun at the victim, and hitting the victim with a car constituted “an ongoing pattern of conduct by [Quinn], specifically targeting the [victim], which serves no legitimate purpose.” The officer also noted that Quinn’s pattern of conduct “not only represents a credible threat to the [victim], but has already resulted in serious injury to the [victim].”

The witness reportedly provided video showing Quinn pointing a pistol at the victim, and she also provided video of Quinn following the victim in her car.

Post Miranda, Quinn reportedly acknowledged that she had been at the victim’s house and confirmed that the two have been engaged in an ongoing dispute. She said she did not intentionally hit the victim with her car but said the victim “jumped into her car and held onto the side of the car.” Quinn reportedly denied ever having a gun during the incident and told an officer that her pistol was locked up at her home, but the officer reported that a pistol could be seen in plain view on the driver’s side floorboard of Quinn’s car.

Quinn has been charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, and aggravated stalking with a credible threat. She has one non-violent misdemeanor conviction. Judge Meshon Rawls ordered her held without bail pending a hearing on a motion from the State Attorney’s office to hold her without bail until trial; if the judge denies the motion, bail will be set at that hearing.

Articles about arrests are based on reports from law enforcement agencies. The charges listed are taken from the arrest report and/or court records and are only accusations. All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
