A man from Georgia faces murder charges after allegedly shooting his lifelong friend following an inappropriate advance toward the friend’s wife.
According to WTLV, Buffy Cothern recounted that while she and her husband were giving Brandon Frick a ride in Waycross, Frick inappropriately touched her arm. She described how she stopped the car, prompting her husband, 35-year-old Jacob Cothern, to insist that Frick leave the vehicle.
“Brandon pulled out a gun and shot Jacob once. I saw my husband collapse while Brandon demanded, ‘Get up and take me home,’” she recounted. “Jacob pleaded, ‘No, Brandon, please stop. We don’t have to do it like this.’ When Brandon saw Jacob couldn’t stand, he shot him again, then calmly holstered his weapon and walked away without a hint of remorse.”
When police arrived at the scene, they quickly apprehended Frick, who was still carrying the weapon.
Buffy shared with WTVL that her husband had drastically changed his life after spending significant time in prison. Having been released for two years, the longest period in nearly a decade, he focused on overcoming addiction. He secured a job with Waycross Public Works, received three promotions within a year, and planned to pursue further education and obtain a commercial driver’s license.
Frick, 29, is being held on one count each of malice murder, unauthorized discharge of a firearm, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, Law&Crime reported.
