GPD to Honor Officer Scott Baird with Candlelight Vigil on 25th Anniversary of His Passing

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The Gainesville Police Department marks a somber milestone, 25 years since the tragic loss of Officer Scott M. Baird, badge number 467. In the early hours of February 12, 2001, the young officer, only 23 at the time, sacrificed his life in the line of duty, leaving an indelible mark on the community he vowed to protect.

This February 12th, members of the GPD will come together to honor Officer Baird’s memory, joining his family, friends, and the Gainesville community in a heartfelt display of solidarity.

The 25th Annual Officer Scott Baird #467 Candlelight Remembrance ceremony is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. at 1900 NW 16th Terrace, also known as Officer Scott Baird Boulevard. The event serves as a poignant reminder that the legacy of a hero lives on.

A hero remembered never dies.
