GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The Alachua County Spring Term Grand Jury has issued indictments against three suspects, including two juveniles, associated with the shooting death of Caleb Fries, 17, at Pointe 23 Apartments on February 19.

The three suspects – Dyquann Freeney, Mikhail Lawson, and Kemeon Lee – allegedly conspired to rob Fries while Lee pretended to buy marijuana from him; after Lee got into Fries’ car to conduct the transaction, Lawson and Freeney allegedly came up each side of the car with guns. Fries reportedly saw them and fired toward Lawson, hitting the magazine of his gun, and Freeney allegedly killed Fries with one shot to the head through a window.

Dyquann Deauntay Freeney, 24, was indicted for Capital Felony Murder while engaged in robbery, conspiracy to commit robbery with a firearm, robbery with a firearm (a 10-20-Life offense), possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, tampering with physical evidence (for discarding his gun), and shooting into an occupied vehicle.

Mikhail O. Lawson, 14, who allegedly had a gun during the incident, was indicted for Capital Felony Murder while engaged in robbery, conspiracy to commit robbery with a firearm, robbery with a firearm (a 10-20-Life offense), and possession of a firearm by a minor under 18.

Kemeon Marke Lee, 15, who allegedly made arrangements to buy marijuana from Fries but has not been accused of having a gun during the incident, was indicted for Capital Felony Murder while engaged in robbery, conspiracy to commit robbery with a firearm, robbery with a firearm, and unlawful use of a two-way communications device to commit a felony.

All three defendants are being held without bail.

Assistant State Attorney Ryan Nagel presented the case to the Grand Jury, and Judge Meshon Rawls signed the indictment.
