A Kentucky resident has been charged with murder following the alleged killing of his spouse last week.
When police in Mount Washington arrived at the scene on Friday, they found a woman’s body, covered in blood, lying on the garage floor. Richard Chesher, 67, was reportedly also smeared with blood and attempting to close the garage door as officers arrived, as reported by WAVE.
Chesher was taken into custody peacefully. The victim was identified as his wife, whose injuries were so severe that she was described by police as “unrecognizable.” According to the Courier Journal, her body had been wrapped in a garage hose, which investigators suspect Chesher used to drag her from inside the house to the garage.
Authorities believe Chesher was trying to load his wife’s body into a truck, which was parked in the garage with a makeshift ramp set up from the floor to the truck bed. This suggests he may have been planning to move the body elsewhere.
Investigators reportedly discovered a trail of blood stretching from inside the home to the garage, alongside a large piece of wood that appeared to have blood on it.
Chesher was charged with murder with domestic violence, tampering with physical evidence and abuse of a corpse. His bond was set at $1 million.
