Cops in Pueblo, Colorado, are investigating a burglary where the thieves only stole an urn (KRDO).
This incident unfolded just before 4 p.m. on January 21 at Geraldine Sierra’s residence on Brothers Lane in Pueblo, located approximately 110 miles south of Denver. According to police reports shared with Law&Crime, Sierra contacted law enforcement after her home security system captured footage of two unfamiliar men inside her house. By the time officers arrived, the suspects had already made their escape.
Investigators discovered that the men arrived in a vehicle, proceeded directly to the house, and gained entry via a back door. The police suspect the burglary was premeditated, as the intruders seemed well-acquainted with the home’s interior layout. Once inside, they headed straight for Sierra’s bedroom, according to the police.
When Sierra returned home, she was relieved to find her electronics untouched. However, her relief quickly turned to dismay upon realizing that her father’s urn was the sole item missing.
The woman returned home to find electronics untouched, but one item missing: her father’s urn.
Sierra told local ABC affiliate KRDO that her father Patrick died last year after a battle with cancer.
“He was like my best friend. Someone that I talked to every single day up until he passed away. You know, he was my hero. He was my everything, honestly. When he passed away, everything just stopped,” she said in an interview with the TV station.
Sierra had a simple message for the thieves:
“Return my father’s ashes,” she stated.
A spokeswoman for Pueblo police said detectives continue to investigate the case and are following up on leads.
“I just wish somebody would bring him back home,” Sierra stated.
Anyone with information should call Pueblo police.
