A high school football coach has mysteriously disappeared just before his team’s playoff match, and he is now facing grave charges.

The Virginia State Police revealed on November 25 that ten warrants have been filed against the missing coach, Travis L. Turner, who vanished on November 20.

The 46-year-old coach is accused of five counts of possessing child pornography and five counts of using a computer to solicit a minor.

“The investigation is still active,” stated the police in their announcement. “There may be more charges forthcoming.”

Authorities reported that Virginia State Police Special Agents were en route to speak with Turner at his home in Appalachia, Virginia, on November 20. This visit was part of the early phase of an investigation when they discovered he had left his house and vanished without a trace.

According to authorities, Virginia State Police Special Agents were on their way to speak to Turner Nov. 20 as part of “the early stages of an investigation” at his Appalachia, Virginia home when they learned that he had left the residence and disappeared without a trace.

Police said the visit was “not to arrest him” and was just expected to be a “part of the investigation.”

Police have continued to actively search for him, utilizing search and rescue teams, drones and K9 units to assist in their efforts.

“VSP’s main priority is locating Turner safely,” police said, “He is now considered a fugitive.”

The public relations director for the Virginia State Police Robin Lawson told Oxygen.com Wednesday, Nov. 26, that, as of publishing time, there had been no new updates in the case as the search for Turner continues.

Travis Turner Makes Final Comments Before Disappearing

Turner served as the football coach for Union High School and disappeared just days before the undefeated team was slated to compete in a playoff game.

“It’s going to be a battle here,” he said to Union Sports Network Nov. 15 before adding that his students would “be ready” for the big game.

The school district’s superintendent Mike Goforth told CNN that they are “aware” of the recent charges filed against a staff member in the district.

Goforth added, “The individual remains on leave and is not permitted on school property or to have contact with students.”

Meanwhile, Turner’s family has asked for privacy through attorney Adrian Collins.

“We remain prayerful for his safe return and for everyone affected by the circumstances surrounding his disappearance,” Collins said in a statement to CNN. “We trust God to bring truth and clarity in His time. Any allegations should be addressed through the proper legal process—not through speculation or rumor.”

Anyone with information on Turner’s whereabouts is asked to contact Virginia State Police Division 4 at 276-484-9483 or email questions@vsp.virginia.gov.
