GAINESVILLE, Fla. – A 23-year-old man named Williamson Dercelian Isaac was taken into custody on charges of trespassing and carrying a concealed weapon at the Haile Market Square Publix. Isaac was apprehended after allegedly refusing to vacate the premises and was later found with a sword concealed in his pants.
The incident unfolded around 5:30 p.m. on May 16, when an Alachua County Sheriff’s Deputy arrived at the Publix located at 2755 SW 91st St. A store manager reported that Isaac had been using the cart-cleaning wipes to clean his feet within the store’s foyer. Upon being asked to leave the premises, Isaac reportedly declined to comply.
Deputies encountered Isaac in front of the Publix store. The manager confirmed that Isaac had been asked to leave and had refused to do so. Officers also recognized Isaac from previous sightings in the vicinity, where he had been observed carrying a large sword, prompting several calls to the Combined Communications Center.
When approached by deputies, Isaac allegedly refused to provide identification and made ambiguous comments suggesting he might be armed. A subsequent search revealed a long object at Isaac’s hip, which was determined to be a sword.
A search of Isaac’s belongings reportedly produced a SNAP card that showed his name, and his identity was confirmed using the photo in the driver’s license database.
After he was handcuffed, Isaac reportedly said, “I’m sorry for trespassing.”
Isaac has been charged with armed trespassing. He has no local criminal history, and he has been released from the Alachua County Jail.
