Staff report

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Priscilla Lashon Williams-Cobb, 51, was arrested last night and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon after allegedly threatening another woman with a knife.

At about 9:15 p.m. last night, Williams-Cobb allegedly approached another woman for an unknown reason and held a knife to her throat, saying, “Get back, I’ll kill you.” The victim was in fear for her life and pushed Williams-Cobb’s arm back to get some distance. Williams-Cobb then allegedly pushed the knife into the victim’s back and again threatened to kill her. As the victim walked away, Williams-Cobb allegedly swung the knife at the victim but hit a nearby air mattress.

Two witnesses reportedly saw parts of the incident and corroborated the victim’s story. Video surveillance reportedly showed Williams-Cobb following the victim with a knife in each hand. The location of the attack was not disclosed, but Williams-Cobb and both witnesses are GRACE Marketplace residents.

Post Miranda, Williams-Cobb reportedly said, “The white man gave us knives.” The responding Gainesville Police Department officer asked if that was why she tried to stab the victim, and Williams-Cobb reportedly said yes. The officer noted that Williams-Cobb appeared to be “extremely intoxicated.”

Williams-Cobb has 14 felony convictions (two violent) and 46 misdemeanor convictions (four violent). She has served three state prison sentences, with her most recent release in 2013. She is facing a sworn complaint charging her with shoplifting from the Circle K at 20 NE Waldo Road on July 31. A sworn complaint charging her with domestic violence was filed in March, but the charges were later dropped. Judge Walter Green set bail at $10,000 and required her to maintain an alternate residence.

Articles about arrests are based on reports from law enforcement agencies. The charges listed are taken from the arrest report and/or court records and are only accusations. All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
