Horrific Crime Scene: Man Caught Attempting to Move Wife’s Body After Brutal Attack, Police Report

A man from Kentucky is accused of brutally assaulting his wife, leaving her so severely disfigured that she was “unrecognizable.”

Richard Chesher, aged 67, is currently being held at the Bullitt County Detention Center following his arrest by the Mount Washington Police Department. Authorities apprehended Chesher on Friday night after responding to his Mount Washington residence, where they discovered him drenched in blood. As detailed in an arrest report from local Fox affiliate WDKY, Chesher was discovered standing in his garage, near the blood-soaked body of his deceased wife. According to NBC affiliate WAVE, authorities allege that Chesher was attempting to place his wife’s body into the back of a pickup truck when they arrived on the scene. For further details, refer to their coverage.

During their investigation, officers discovered a blood trail extending from within the house to the garage. At the scene, they also found a “club-like piece of wood” stained with blood, believed to have been used in the assault.

Chesher’s wife was allegedly “beaten so badly around her face and head she was unrecognizable.”

According to the arrest report, a pickup truck was backed up to the garage door with a makeshift ramp going up to the truck bed. Chesher reportedly tried to close the garage door on the police when they arrived, but they were able to detain him without incident.

Chesher was charged with murder, domestic violence, tampering with evidence, and abuse of a corpse. He made his first court appearance on Monday, when a judge set his bail at $1 million cash. He is scheduled to appear in court again for a preliminary hearing on March 17.
