The husband of a Fort Campbell soldier found dead last year with nearly 70 stab wounds has been arrested in connection with her murder.

Sofia Rodas, 35, was charged with first degree murder and tampering with evidence in the death of PFC Katia Dueñas Aguilar, and Aguilar’s husband, 40-year-old Reynaldo Salinas Cruz, was charged with tampering with evidence, Clarksville Police said.

Both Rodas and Cruz were in federal custody on unrelated charges at the time Clarksville, Tennessee, Police filed the charges relating to Aguilar’s death. They were brought back to the Montgomery County Jail, where they were served with the indictments.

No further information was released.

Aguilar, a 23-year-old native of Mesquite, Texas, was found dead in her Clarksville home near the Army post on the Kentucky-Tennessee state line on May 18, 2024, as CrimeOnline reported.  She enlisted in the Army in 2018 and came to Fort Campbell a year later, where she was a member of the 101st Combat Aviation Brigade, 101st Airborne Division.

She was the mother of a 4-year-old son.

Aguilar’s family and The League of United Latin American Citizens had offered a $55,000 reward for information leading to an arrest and conviction.
