Testimony continued in Tyler McCain’s preliminary hearing Thursday, with a video showing the California man, accused of killing his wife, Nikki McCain, kicking and cursing before her disappearance.

On Thursday, the court saw security footage of Tyler McCain, caught on Ring camera, “vowing to kill his wife and her family,” the Record Searchlight reports.

The video surfaced during the hearing at the Shasta County Superior Court in Redding, to determine if there is sufficient evidence for a murder trial.

“Open the f****** door,” Tyler McCain shouted in the video.

“If you don’t open the door now, I swear I will f****** kill you,” his voice was heard saying after someone inside said “no.”

As CrimeOnline previously reported, the Redding Police Department said Nikki last spoke to her family On May 17, 2024, before someone picked her up from a home in Redding, near the Win-River Casino.

Her truck was also reported missing, but police later found it, a 2002 Chevrolet Avalanche with California license plate DP154UT, on May 25, 2024, in western Tehama County, according to the Shasta County Sheriff’s Office.

Shasta County authorities later reclassified Nikki’s disappearance as a homicide, and charged Tyler McCain with the murder last month.

Shasta County District Attorney Stephanie Bridgett said that Tyler McCain’s motive had been to keep Nikki, a mother of four, from testifying against him in a domestic abuse case.

He has pleaded not guilty.

Shortly after allegedly threatening Nikki and her family, the Ring camera captured him screaming, once again pressuring them to open the door.

“I’m asking you please nicely to open the f****** door. I will kill everyone in this f****** house. I swear everyone in the family will die.”

“I’m calm now. Open the door. Open the door. Open the door. Open the door,” he said later.

Shasta County Sheriff’s Office Detective Kilee Holroyd testified Thursday that the male’s voice in the video was the defendant, and the person who said “no” was Nikki McCain.

Previous Video Coverage

Although the date of the video is undetermined, the incident reportedly happened at the residence of Nikki’s sister, Chloe Saelee, who is the guardian of the McCain couple’s four children.

Holyrood told the court that Nikki had been temporarily staying with her sister after marital issues with Tyler McCain, who had allegedly been drinking excessively.

Meanwhile, the prosecution estimated that the hearing will conclude on September 23.

Superior Court Judge Thomas L. Bender is tasked with determining if the murder case against Tyler McCain will proceed.
