Staff report

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Chadrick Arsenio Hall, 34, was arrested early this morning for allegedly violating a domestic violence injunction and threatening to kill and put a hit out on the officer who transported him to the jail.

The victim told the responding Gainesville Police Department officer that at about 11:10 p.m. on March 28, she was inside the Aloha Liquor Store (930 E. University Avenue) when Hall walked in. Hall has been prohibited from contact with the victim since 2015, but he allegedly started arguing with her and continued walking into the store. He also argued with another person, and the officer reported that the argument could be seen on surveillance video.

A store employee reported that Hall had purchased a bottle of tequila, and the officer noted that the conditions of Hall’s probation include a curfew starting at 10 p.m. and a prohibition on possession of alcohol, along with the prohibition to have no contact with the victim.

Hall was later arrested at Havana Wine & Cigar Lounge (116 SE 1st Street).

Post Miranda, Hall reportedly said he didn’t know the victim was inside the store when he entered, but he knew he had a no-contact order with her. He said he argued with her and told her he was not leaving until he made his purchase. The officer noted that surveillance video showed Hall “clearly provoking” the victim and continuing to engage with her while walking farther into the store.

While the officer was transporting Hall to the jail, Hall allegedly told the officer it was his wedding night and he would shoot the officer and put a “hit” out on the officer if he were not released. He allegedly said he was going to spit on the officer and added that if the officer would release him from the handcuffs, he would fight him. Hall allegedly said throughout the drive that he would find the officer, physically fight him, and shoot him. Once at the jail, Hall allegedly threatened and harassed the Department of the Jail Deputies.

As of his most recent arrest in 2018, Hall had 11 felony convictions (six violent) and five misdemeanor convictions (one violent). He has served five state prison sentences, with his most recent release in December 2024. He is on probation until June 2026 as part of the sentence in two battery and robbery cases from 2015. Judge Craig DeThomasis set bail at $20,000.

Articles about arrests are based on reports from law enforcement agencies. The charges listed are taken from the arrest report and/or court records and are only accusations. All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
