Staff report

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Ifasade Ajigunwa Ogunlano (AKA Ogunland in court records), 42, was arrested yesterday and charged with burglary with battery after allegedly pulling his brother out of his car and punching him in a convenience store parking lot.

At about 8:44 a.m. on January 28, an Alachua County Sheriff’s Deputy responded to the Circle K at 4310 SE Hawthorne Road in response to a call about a battery.

The deputy reported that surveillance video showed Ogunlano inside the convenience store when the victim walked in; the two men began arguing, and the victim went outside to get his cell phone and document the incident. The victim reportedly told the deputy that Ogunlano had been telling people he wanted to fight the victim, and he said he was afraid of being harmed. The deputy reported that the victim went back inside the store, where the two men argued again; Ogunlano can be seen leaaving the store and waiting outside for the victim to exit, but the victim stayed inside and waited for Ogunlano to leave the property. Ogunlano eventually went to his own car and waited there for the victim to leave the store.

The victim, thinking Ogunlano had left, walked out of the store toward his vehicle, and the deputy reported that Ogunlano could be seen on video getting out of his own car and walking quickly toward the victim. The victim hurried to his car when he saw Ogunlano, and Ogunlano allegedly approached him aggressively. Out of fear, the victim reportedly threw his coffee at Ogunlano; the coffee did not hit Ogunlano, but the action bought the victim enough time to get into his car and close the door. Ogunlano allegedly pulled the car door open and punched the victim with a closed fist, then pulled the victim out of his car and started hitting and “stomping” on him.

The deputy reported that the victim’s injuries were consistent with being punched.

Ogunlano has been charged with burglary with battery. He has four felony convictions (none violent) and five misdemeanor convictions (none violent). He is on pre-trial release following an August 2024 arrest in Orlando for possession of 430 grams of marijuana. Judge Meshon Rawls set bail at $30,000.

Articles about arrests are based on reports from law enforcement agencies. The charges listed are taken from the arrest report and/or court records and are only accusations. All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
