On Tuesday, authorities in Pennsylvania apprehended a registered sex offender involved in a troubling incident where he allegedly assaulted a woman during a home invasion.
Identified as Louis Sophie, 45, the man reportedly entered a residence in Bensalem through an unlocked door. According to WCAU, once inside, he confronted a female occupant, began removing his clothing, and made the unsettling remark that she “looks tasty.”
The situation escalated when the woman resisted, screaming and fending off her attacker. Sophie then fled the scene, according to WTXF. He attempted to escape by running through Poquessing Creek but was soon captured by police at a nearby gas station in Philadelphia, just under a half-mile from where the incident occurred.
Sophie’s criminal history includes a 2005 conviction in New York for possessing obscene material involving a child under 16, as noted by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, which lists him as a registered sex offender.
In this recent incident, Sophie faces charges of burglary and attempted rape. The court has set his bail at $1 million.
