Police officers have been observed inspecting the residence of Nancy Guthrie’s daughter, along with examining a septic tank located behind Nancy’s own property, as the search for Savannah Guthrie’s missing mother progresses into its second week.

On the evening of February 7, investigators visited the home of Annie Guthrie and her husband, Tommaso Cioni. This visit occurred just hours after Annie, alongside her siblings Savannah and Camron, issued a heartfelt plea to their mother’s possible abductors.

A representative from the Pima County Sheriff’s Department confirmed to Today that the search is a routine part of the ongoing investigation.

The following day, according to drone footage obtained by Fox News, investigators returned to Nancy’s property. They utilized a long pole to examine a septic tank as part of an in-depth search of the area.

Brittany Abarr, a spokesperson for the sheriff’s department, stated in a February 9 release to Oxygen that these activities are integral to the “active and ongoing investigation.”

“Detectives and agents continue to conduct follow-up at multiple locations,” Abarr said. “Details of that follow-up are not being released at this time.”

She added that at this time, “Investigators have not identified any suspects, persons of interest, or vehicles connected to this case.”

As the case continues, the sheriff’s department is expected to continue a presence at Nancy’s property.

“At the request of the Guthrie family,” Abarr explained, “the Pima County Sheriff’s Department will maintain a presence at Nancy Guthrie’s residence for security purposes going forward.”

What Happened to Nancy Guthrie?

Nancy was last seen at her home the night of Jan. 31 after she was dropped off at the property by a family member at 9:48 p.m. Hours later, around 1:47 a.m. the doorbell camera was disconnected and her pacemaker app disconnected from her home at 2:28 p.m.

Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos said investigators believe Nancy was taken from the property in the middle of the night against her will. He confirmed at a press conference Feb. 5 that her blood was found outside on the porch.

How Savannah Guthrie Responded to Second Ransom Note

An initial ransom note—which investigators have yet to authenticate—was sent to local and national media outlets by Nancy’s possible captors, giving an initial deadline of 5 p.m. on Feb. 5 and a secondary deadline of Feb. 9.

A new message was also sent to a media outlet on Feb. 6, per Today.

Although it’s still unclear whether the message was sent by the same sender, Nancy’s family seemingly responded in a video posted Feb. 7.

“We received your message and we understand. We beg you now to return our mother to us so that we can celebrate with her,” a somber Savannah said in the Instagram video. “This is the only way we will have peace. This is very valuable to us and we will pay.”

The FBI is offering a reward of up to $50,000 for information leading to Nancy’s recovery or the arrest of those behind the disappearance. Anyone with information is urged to call 1-800-CALL-FBI.
