Staff report

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Kai William Ocasio-Dankner, 21, of Jacksonville, was arrested in Starke on November 5 and was transported yesterday to the Alachua County Jail on charges of armed burglary, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, and property damage at 39th Avenue Apartments.

At about 4:30 p.m. on November 5, a Gainesville Police Department officer responded to the apartment complex, where Ocasio-Dankner had reportedly gotten into an argument with a pregnant woman in the parking lot. The victim said she kicked Ocasio-Dankner’s vehicle, and he went to the vehicle, took out a handgun, and pointed it at her. She fled to her apartment, and Ocasio-Dankner allegedly chased her.

The victim closed the door once she was inside the apartment, and Ocasio-Dankner allegedly kicked the door off its hinges and chased the victim into a back room in the apartment, where he allegedly threatened to kill her. He reportedly fled when she said she was calling 911.

A Bradford County Sheriff’s Deputy saw the car traveling toward Jacksonville on U.S. Hwy 301 and conducted a traffic stop after verifying the tag. A search of the vehicle reportedly produced a Glock 27 handgun next to a loaded 15-round magazine.

Ocasio-Dankner has one misdemeanor conviction (non-violent). Judge Aymer “Buck” Curtin set bail at $22,000.

Articles about arrests are based on reports from law enforcement agencies. The charges listed are taken from the arrest report and/or court records and are only accusations. All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
