A man who once did time for murder found and punched one of the boys who recently fought his son, according to deputies in Polk County, Florida.
Jarrett Garrett McCabe, 47, landed back in the local jail and posted a $500 bond for simple battery, records show.
Going in chronological order, the 16-year-old victim had fought the son several weeks ago, deputies said. Then, the son allegedly fought another boy on Monday. The boy and his mother spoke to McCabe and the son, and he apologized for the fight, authorities said.
Investigators said, however, that McCabe arrived Tuesday at the bus stop on David Street to see if the boys were going to fight his son.

Seeing them step off the bus, he allegedly confronted them and slapped one of the teens from the first fight several weeks ago in the face.
According to deputies, a Door Dash delivery driver witnessed McCabe punch the boy in the face and twice in the stomach.
McCabe allegedly told a detective that he learned from a neighbor about the two boys jumping his son on Monday. Investigators determined the son was not jumped in either incident.
Florida prison records show McCabe was sentenced to 12 years in prison on March 7, 1997, for second-degree murder. Other charges were shooting or throwing a missile at a building or vehicle and aggravated assault with a weapon with no intent to kill. He got out of prison early on March 1, 2004.
“It’s understandable that a dad would be upset about his son getting jumped, but waiting at a bus stop to beat up a kid is not the kind of example you want to be setting for your child,” Sheriff Grady Judd said. “Based on this and his criminal history, he clearly has anger-management issues.”
