Authorities have released an audio version of Joran van der Sloot revealing what took place in the final moments of Natalee Holloway’s life.

The chilling details were disclosed as part of a plea deal in which the 36-year-old admitted guilt to extortion and wire fraud. Prosecutors alleged that he attempted to sell information about Holloway’s May 2005 disappearance and murder to the victim’s mother, Beth Holloway, for $250,000 back in 2010.

Details including Holloway’s cause of death and where her remains were disposed were disclosed in court on Wednesday. Prosecutors said that van der Sloot claimed to have bludgeoned her with a brick after she rejected his sexual advances.

Joran van der Sloot’s confession to Natalee Holloway’s murder

A nearly 4-minute recording of van der Sloot’s recollections were subsequently released on Thursday, October 19. In the clip, van der Sloot said that he had hoped to have sex with Holloway while she was vacationing in Aruba in May 2005. But when he made a move on the beach, she turned him down.

“She tells me she doesn’t want me to — to feel her up,” van der Sloot calmly told investigators on October 3. “Uh, I insist. I keep feeling her up either way. And she, uh, knees me, she ends up kneeing me in the crotch.”

He continued, “When she knees me in the crotch I get up on the beach and I kick her — extremely hard — in the face.”

Natalee Holloway’s cause of death

As Holloway lay unconscious on the sand, “possibly even dead,” van der Sloot found a cinder block and repeatedly bashed her in the face. “Even though it’s dark I can see her face is collapsed,” he said.

Then, in the dark of night, he dragged her body to the ocean and disposed of it in the waters before walking home.

The audio recording cuts off but Beth said that van der Sloot told prosecutors he watched porn at home the same night. “How could he have murdered her, and then he goes home and checks the soccer scores, gets on a porn site, gets up, takes a shower and goes to school,” Beth Holloway told NBC News.

The confession marks the conclusion of a nearly 20-year search for justice in the 18-year-old’s disappearance — though van der Sloot was long-eyed for the crime.

“A far as I’m concerned it’s over, it’s over,” Beth told reporters outside court. “Joran van der Sloot is no longer the suspect in my daughter’s murder. He is the killer.”

Joran van der Sloot’s release date

An Alabama judge sentenced van der Sloot to 20 years in prison, to be served concurrently with his current 28-year sentence in Peru, where he was convicted in 2012 of murdering college student Stephany Flores, 21, in May of 2010.

In Peru, he will be eligible for parole after serving half his sentence and could be released earlier if he is credited for good behavior. If that is the case, he will be sent back to the United States to serve out his remaining sentence.

Since the statute of limitations for murder in Aruba is 12 years, van der Sloot will not be charged in Holloway’s killing.
