A Kentucky man wanted for shooting a Wendy’s employee because his fries weren’t hot enough turned himself in last week to face two counts of assault.

Monjah D. James-Wooten was wanted for the January 6 incident, in which the Wendy’s employee fired back, the Louisiville Metro Police Department said. James Wooten surrendered on January 17 and is due in court on Tuesday.

Police said the shooting took place just after 10:30 p.m. and that it started with a verbal altercation between James-Wooten and two women he was with and the drive-thru employee. James-Wooten and the two women came into the restaurant to continue the argument. James-Wooten’s group and the employee went outside, and James-Wooten fired a shot at the employee, WDRB said.

The employee fired back, prompting James-Wooten to fire several more shots, hitting the employee.

Police arrived to find the suspects gone and the employee wounded. She was taken to University of Louisville Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The shooting was caught on surveillance video, WAVE said.

One of the women who was with James-Wooten told police she had been shot in the exchange of gunfire as well.
