In a shocking turn of events, details have emerged within a mere two days about the tragic deaths of Rob Reiner and his wife, Michele Reiner. The couple was discovered fatally stabbed in their Brentwood, California residence.

In connection with this case, their son, Nick Reiner, has been apprehended by authorities and is facing charges related to their murder.

Oxygen is delving into the investigation surrounding the untimely demise of the beloved When Harry Met Sally filmmaker.

Nick Reiner Is Set to Be Charged in Murders of Rob Reiner, Michele Reiner

“Today, I am announcing that charges are being filed against Nick Reiner, who stands accused of murdering his parents: the esteemed actor and director Rob Reiner, and Michelle Singer Reiner, a noted photographer and producer,” declared Los Angeles District Attorney Nathan J. Hochman during a press briefing held on December 16. “The charges include two counts of first-degree murder, with an added special circumstance for multiple homicides. Additionally, he is accused of personally wielding a dangerous weapon—a knife—in the commission of these crimes.”

While a court appearance was scheduled for Nick on December 16, a defense attorney, purportedly representing him, informed reporters outside the courthouse that Nick was not “medically cleared” to attend the hearing.

“Every inmate has to be medically cleared before they can be transported to court. He has not been medically cleared,” attorney Alan Jackson—known for representing Harvey Weinstein and Karen Read among others—said Tuesday, in video captured by MS Now. “It’s just a procedural issue.”

And, for now, Nick is being held without bail.

“The bailiff has indicated that the sheriff’s department will take it on a day-by-day basis,” Jackson added. “Hopefully, he’ll be cleared tomorrow and we can get him here.”

What Happened After Rob Reiner and Michele Reiner’s Bodies Were Discovered

Hours after Rob and Michele’s bodies were found, law enforcement gave their first press briefing outside the couple’s West L.A. home.

“At approximately 3:40 this afternoon, Los Angeles police officers, along with the Los Angeles City Fire Department, responded to the 200 block of Chadbourne Avenue, here in the city of Brentwood,” LAPD Deputy Chief Alan Hamilton said Sunday evening. “Upon arrival, they determined that there were two deceased individuals inside of the residence.”

Initial reports and details from authorities, for multiple hours, didn’t confirm whether the deceased individuals were Rob and Michele.

“Once inside the residence, officers discovered two victims, who were subsequently identified as Robert and Michele Reiner,” read a press release Dec. 15. “Robbery Homicide Division, Homicide Special Section (RHD/HSS), responded to the residence and initiated an investigation regarding the circumstances of their deaths.”

“As a result of the initial investigation, it was determined that the Reiners were the victims of homicide,” law enforcement added. “The investigation further revealed that Nick Reiner, the 32-year-old son of Robert and Michele Reiner, was responsible for their deaths.”

What Happened Before Rob Reiner and Michele Reiner’s Murders
