Christian Brückner, who has been at the center of the Madeleine McCann investigation, has recently been released from a German prison following the completion of a seven-year sentence for an unrelated rape conviction. Despite his release, he remains under strict supervision, including the use of an electronic ankle monitor, and has been required to surrender his passport.
Although Brückner is no longer behind bars, German authorities continue to regard him as the prime suspect in the disappearance of Madeleine McCann. Investigators are committed to pursuing all leads in this high-profile case.
Brückner, a German national, was identified as a suspect in the 2007 disappearance of Madeleine McCann, a British toddler who vanished while on a family vacation in Portugal. The case shocked the world and has remained unsolved for over a decade.
At the age of 44, Brückner had been serving a prison sentence in Germany for the 2005 rape of an elderly American woman. The three-year-old Madeleine was last seen at a holiday rental, and her disappearance has since become one of the most scrutinized missing person cases.
Brueckner, 44, had been and is currently serving a 7-year prison sentence in Germany for raping an elderly American woman in 2005. Three-year-old Maddie went missing from a vacation rental while on a family holiday in Portugal.
A Portuguese prosecutor in Braunschweig, Germany, has been pursuing a case against Brueckner since June 2020.
