Despite the chilling admissions heard in the trailer for Oxygen‘s upcoming series Kill or Be Killed — from “I shot my husband” to “I just killed my dad” — not all cases are as clear-cut as they may seem.

Kill or Be Killed, premiering Saturday, March 2 at 9 p.m. ET/PT, takes a look at complex claims of self-defense in murder cases.

In the trailer for the new series from Oxygen True Crime, the home of high-quality true-crime programming, one man seen in an interrogation room says, “He was going to kill me… that’s when I shot.”

Words flashed on the screen read, “Knowing the killer doesn’t always mean knowing the truth.”

Viewers should be prepared to question everything in Oxygen’s Kill or Be Killed. These complex cases unpack brutal murders where the killer claims self-defense. Was it really the result of a genuine act of self-preservation, with no other alternative, or was the killer desperately trying to cover-up a cold-blooded murder?

What is Oxygen’s Kill or Be Killed?

Kill or Be Killed is the gripping exploration of self-defense murder cases, where law enforcement, prosecutors and defense attorneys unravel every detail, from the harrowing stories, forensics, interrogations and witness statements that led up to the gruesome event in order to find answers. Through the investigation and sparring of dynamic legal teams, every episode provides an immersive journey, exploring both sides of the story, building to confounding verdicts of guilt or innocence in the eyes of the law. The series also exposes the suspenseful journey loved ones of both the slain and the perpetrators take as they navigate the twists and turns of the investigation and are forced to grapple with the truth.

Upcoming Episodes of Kill or Be Killed

“Grandma’s Gun” (March 2 at 9 p.m. ET/PT)
A teen boy makes a shocking 911 call claiming his grandmother shot him. As detectives investigate, they uncover drugs and deep familial conflicts spanning a generational divide, leaving a jury questioning who to believe.

“Friends ‘Til the End” (March 9 at 9 p.m. ET/PT)
After best friends spend an evening Christmas shopping, the night ends with one man fatally shooting the other. The survivor claims self-defense, but his foggy memory, forensic evidence and witness accounts suggest there could be more to the story.
