A New York state man wanted for the stabbing death of his girlfriend earlier this month has been captured in the Adirondacks.

The Albany County District Attorney’s Office said it learned of the capture of Anthony Bechand from New York State Police, WRGB said.

Bechand, 53,  was last seen in Brighton, on September 14, as CrimeOnline reported. His truck was located later that day at the intersection of county Route 60 and state Route 86 in Franklin County, where it apparently had been sitting abandoned for hours.

Amanda Rodriguez, 41, was found dead that morning at the home she shared with Bechand, a landscaper, in Cohoes. Police said that Rodriguez’s mother had not heard from her and sent a friend to check. The friend found the body.

Authorities said they believed the murder took place the day before and launched a manhunt for the suspected killer, whose truck was seen at the home at that time. They put out a call for tips on Tuesday.

The district attorney’s office said Bechand was spotted walking along a road in the Adirondacks before his arrest. Formal charges will be filed by the end of the day, the office said.
