A court hearing scheduled for Tuesday has been delayed because Nick Reiner, the son accused of murdering Rob and Michelle Reiner, has not received medical clearance. The postponement adds another layer of complexity to a case that has already garnered significant public attention.
The New York Times reported that Nick Reiner’s attorney, Alan Jackson, cited his client’s lack of medical clearance as the reason for not being transported from jail to the Los Angeles County Courthouse. However, Jackson did not disclose specific details regarding the medical issues involved.
Currently, Nick Reiner, 32, remains in custody as the prosecution prepares to present the case. Authorities allege that he is responsible for the deaths of Rob and Michelle Reiner, aged 78 and 68, who were found with fatal stab wounds at their Brentwood residence on Sunday.
The grim discovery was made by one of the victims’ daughters, according to reports. The tragic incident has left family and friends reeling, with new details emerging about the family’s dynamics.
The Los Angeles Times has revealed that Nick Reiner had been living in a guesthouse on his parents’ property. Family friends reported that Michelle Reiner had expressed growing concern over her son’s mental health in the weeks preceding the tragic events.
Hours before the slaying, Nick Reiner allegedly got into an argument with his parents at a Christmas party held by comedian Conan O’Brien.
Los Angeles County District Attorney Nathan Hochman and Los Angeles Police Chief Jim McDonnell are expected to hold a press conference on Tuesday regarding the ongoing investigation.
