The courtroom drama unfolds as Kouri Richins, a Utah mother, faces allegations of murdering her husband, Eric Richins, by lacing his Moscow Mule with poison.
At 35, Richins stands trial in Summit County, confronting numerous accusations, as outlined here, including:
- Aggravated murder
- Attempted aggravated murder
- Insurance fraud
- Forgery
In a shocking turn in May 2023, it is alleged that Richins added a dangerous dose of illicit fentanyl to Eric’s drink, surpassing the legal threshold by more than fivefold.
Richins, who has three children, later authored and released a children’s book titled “Are You with Me?” This poignant story features a father with angel wings, keeping a watchful eye over his son.
Further accusations reveal an earlier attempt on Eric’s life, purportedly on Valentine’s Day 2022, when she allegedly tried to poison his sandwich.
The defense argued that it’s unclear how Eric ingested the drug and that investigators did not thoroughly test the drink’s cup for evidence.
The prosecution stated that Richins, who had been having an affair, had a $4 million debt and killed her husband to gain financial freedom.
Richins has pleaded not guilty. Check back for updates.
