GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Authorities detained Travis William Pavlovski, 40, for his alleged involvement in the theft of 15 jerseys, valued at approximately $2,000, from the University of Florida Bookstore.
On the afternoon of August 27, at around 4:50 p.m., Pavlovski was allegedly observed exiting a fitting room, arms laden with jerseys still on hangers. These jerseys, available in various sizes — small, medium, and large — each carried a price tag ranging from $130 to $140, summing up to a total estimated value of about $2,000.
It is claimed that Pavlovski proceeded to bypass all checkout stations, leaving the bookstore and heading east along Museum Road. Realizing that a bookstore employee was making a phone call behind him, he reportedly retraced his steps to inquire about the location of the “lost and found.” When informed no such service existed, Pavlovski allegedly abandoned the jerseys on the welcome desk.
Having already received a warning to stay off university premises just a day before, on August 26, Pavlovski now faces charges of grand theft along with trespassing following prior warning.

Reports indicate that Pavlovski confessed to avoiding all payment counters, admitting his inability to pay for the jerseys. He expressed a desire to enter a drug rehabilitation program.
Pavlovski has eight felony convictions (one violent) and 20 misdemeanor convictions (non-violent) and has served two state prison sentences, with his most recent release in 2014. Judge Meshon Rawls set bail at $22,000 but did not order Court Services to screen him for Drug Court.
