Staff report

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – At about 4:30 p.m. this afternoon, Alachua County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to Eastwood Meadows Apartments (918 SE 44th Street, Gainesville) after receiving multiple calls from residents of hearing gunfire. Callers also stated that there was a dark-colored sedan near the mailboxes with a subject slumped inside.

Upon arrival, deputies located a male victim suffering from a gunshot(s) wound. Life-sustaining measures were started, and the victim was transported by Alachua County Fire Rescue to the hospital, where he was pronounced deceased.
