GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Zachary Ryan Henderson, 20, was arrested last night for allegedly kicking in the door to a neighbor’s apartment and rummaging through the occupant’s belongings while a juvenile girl was inside the apartment.

At about 9:43 p.m. on April 12, Henderson, whose listed address is at Theory Gainesville, 1210 NW 5th Avenue, allegedly kicked in the door of a neighboring apartment and rummaged through the occupant’s belongings until the police arrived.

The responding Gainesville Police Department officer reportedly saw Henderson coming out of the apartment, which had a broken door handle and broken door frame, a total of about $300 in damage.

The juvenile girl told the officer that she saw Henderson moving around in the apartment and that he made eye contact with her but did not leave. She said she was in fear for her life and hid behind two locked doors, believing Henderson would break into the room where she was hiding.

Post Miranda, Henderson reportedly said the apartment belonged to a friend but then changed his story and said he was in his own apartment. He denied kicking the door open and entering the apartment.

Henderson has been charged with property damage over $200 and burglary to an occupied dwelling. He has no local criminal history. Judge Susanne Wilson Bullard set bail at $30,000.

Articles about arrests are based on reports from law enforcement agencies. The charges listed are taken from the arrest report and/or court records and are only accusations. All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
