A man is facing charges after allegedly orchestrating a widespread theft operation at various Target stores, cleverly using seasoning packets as a distraction.

On February 23, authorities apprehended Keith Wallis, charging him with multiple felonies, including organized retail theft, dealing in stolen property, and money laundering, according to a statement from Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier. The alleged activities spanned from July 2025 to February 2026, involving 75 thefts at Target locations from Miami to Orlando.

According to the report, Wallis executed his scheme by purchasing trading cards alongside cheap Taco seasoning packets. At the self-service checkout, he reportedly only scanned and paid for the seasoning packets while pocketing the cards. He then allegedly turned to eBay to sell the trading cards.

The Palm Beach County Sheriff’s office detailed in a release that the profits from these online sales were deposited into Wallis’s bank account.

The district attorney’s report indicates that Wallis’s alleged actions resulted in Target suffering losses exceeding $10,000, while he reportedly gained nearly $40,000 from the sale of the cards.

Plus, according to the district attorney’s office, Wallis allegedly stole additional merchandise from Publix and Walmart stores.

“This arrest sends a clear message that organized retail theft, no matter how coordinated or far-reaching, will be aggressively investigated and prosecuted,” Palm Beach County Sheriff Ric Bradshaw said in the press release. “Those who profit from stealing in our communities will be held accountable.”

Wallis is currently held in the Broward County Jail and it is unclear whether he has entered a plea. If convicted on the charges, read the DA’s press release, Wallis faces up to 90 years in prison.
