Staff report

ARCHER, Fla. – J’madre Kyjuan Flowers, 21, was apprehended by a K-9 early yesterday morning after allegedly fleeing at high speeds from Gainesville to Archer in a stolen vehicle. Drugs and a gun were also reportedly found in the vehicle.

An Alachua County Sheriff’s Deputy reported that he saw a dark-colored SUV traveling at a high rate of speed northbound on SW 34th Street at about 3:37 a.m. Saturday morning; he tried to follow the SUV but lost track of it in the Westgate area. The deputy then saw the SUV leaving the Checkers drive-through and attempted to conduct a traffic stop, but the SUV fled; the deputy reported that he discontinued the pursuit in the best interest of public safety. He reported that after he discontinued the pursuit, the SUV ran a solid red light at 34th Street and W. University Avenue.

The deputy reported the description of the vehicle, and a Florida Highway Patrol Trooper saw it at SW 91st Street and SW Archer Road, where the trooper attempted to conduct a traffic stop after pacing the SUV at 110 mph. The SUV fled westbound on SW Archer Road to the city of Archer, reportedly driving at speeds over 100 mph. When the SUV slowed down to about 70 mph, the trooper conducted a Precision Immobilization Technique (PIT), causing the SUV to hit a concrete pole on the south shoulder of SW Archer Road near SR 45.

The driver, later identified as Flowers, allegedly fled into the woods south of the Family Dollar. Alachua County Sheriff’s Office K-9s arrived to track the suspect, and Flowers was apprehended by a K-9 in the woods.

A search of his vehicle reportedly produced 11.6 grams of MDPV, 15.4 grams of marijuana, a pill bottle with 30 pills containing MDMA (Ecstacy), a digital scale, and a loaded .380 handgun.

Deputies contacted the SUV’s owner, who said Flowers did not have permission to take her vehicle and wanted to press charges.

Flowers was transported to an emergency room for treatment of a K-9 bite and to check for injuries from the collision with the concrete pole.

Flowers has been charged with possession of a firearm by an adjudicated delinquent, possession of a firearm while committing a felony, fleeing at high speed, grand theft of a motor vehicle, two counts of possession of a controlled substance, two counts of resisting without violence, possession of less than 20 grams of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, reckless driving, and DUI.

Flowers was previously adjudicated delinquent of grand theft of a motor vehicle as a juvenile. Since then, he was arrested in 2019 for hit and run with property damage and driving without a valid license; the hit and run charge was dropped, and adjudication of guilt was withheld for driving without a valid license. In 2021, he was arrested and charged with possession of cocaine with intent to sell and carrying a concealed firearm without a permit; the charges were later dropped. In 2022, a sworn complaint for domestic battery was filed against him, but the charges were later dropped.

Judge Meshon Rawls set bail at $197,700.

Articles about arrests are based on reports from law enforcement agencies. The charges listed are taken from the arrest report and/or court records and are only accusations. All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
