ARCHER, Fla. – Arnold Bernard Hickey, 61, was arrested yesterday after allegedly firing a gun into the air twice.
At about 5:05 p.m. on December 13, an Alachua County Sheriff’s Deputy responded to the 12700 block of SW 170th Street, where the victim said he had asked Hickey if he could use his bicycle to ride “up the street” and then rode the bicycle to a friend’s house on SW 170th Street. The victim said he brought the bike back to Hickey about 30 minutes later and Hickey got upset and said, “I told you about taking my bike, I told you about taking my bike, I got something for that” while clutching at his waistband.
The victim said Hickey pulled out a pistol and shot two rounds into the air, so he called 911 while Hickey fled on his bicycle.
Deputies reportedly found Hickey a short time later in the 12900 block of SW 174th Street; a search incident to arrest reportedly produced a handgun with two loaded magazines.
Deputies reportedly found a shell casing at the location of the incident, along with two bullets that had not been fired.
Hickey has been charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. He has seven misdemeanor convictions, all traffic offenses. Judge Adam Lee set bail at $150,000.
