GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Daniel Nicholas Mancil, 32, of Tallahassee, has been sentenced to one year and one week in state prison, followed by 36 months of sexual offender probation, after entering a plea of nolo contendere to attempted lewd and lascivious behavior on a child under 12. He will also be designated as a Sexual Offender.
Mancil was arrested in February 2023 and charged with sexual battery on a child under 12 and lewd and lascivious behavior on a child under 12, but the sexual battery charge was dropped and the lewd and lascivious behavior charge was reduced to attempted lewd and lascivious behavior as part of the plea agreement.

According to the Alachua County Sheriff’s Office, the victim came forward in May 2021 and said that she had been sexually battered when she was 7 years old. At the time, Mancil was 19. During a forensic interview conducted by the University of Florida Child Protection Team, the victim said she had been sexually battered by the defendant multiple times at multiple locations.
Following his initial arrest, Mancil was released after posting $125,000 bail and will receive two days of credit toward the sentence.
