A Florida man is heading to prison for nearly two decades for sexually assaulting a 13-year-old and forcing her to take a “Plan B” pill to make sure she didn’t get pregnant, with prosecutors saying he “victimized and threatened” the young girl, but was unable to silence her.
“The cruel actions and intent behind this defendant’s crimes are repulsive,” said Walter Forgie, chief assistant state attorney with the Fifth Judicial Circuit, on Wednesday in a press release. “Despite being victimized and threatened, this courageous young victim spoke up and sought help; ensuring McGuire would eventually be held accountable.”
Robert McGuire Jr., 34, of Brooksville, was sentenced to 18 years in prison for the 2021 sexual battery of the Hernando County minor after entering a guilty plea last week. He confessed to forcing himself on the 13-year-old and said he made her take the “Plan B” pill, which is an emergency contraceptive also known as a “morning-after pill,” after buying it at a CVS pharmacy. Authorities were made aware of the assault by an adult close to the victim.
“The complainant stated that the victim had been extremely quiet the past few days before informing the trusted adult that McGuire had sexually battered them,” the state attorney’s office said in its press release Wednesday.
“Officials made contact with the juvenile victim, who indicated that McGuire had sexually battered them,” the release said. “The victim further provided crucial details of the crime, informing deputies that McGuire stated he would kill the victim if they told anyone and also forced the victim to take a morning-after pill, commonly referred to as ‘Plan B.’”

Evidence collected from the scene of the sexual battery, including DNA samples, was located and testing was done that proved it matched McGuire. “Additionally, McGuire’s GPS monitor that he wore for probation revealed his location at a CVS pharmacy around the incident date,” prosecutors said. “At the store, law enforcement officers collected video footage of the defendant purchasing the Plan B pill.”
McGuire wound up getting locked up for an unrelated probation violation and was questioned by police about the assault while behind bars. He denied all allegations before eventually agreeing to the plea agreement.
As part of the deal, McGuire pleaded guilty to two felony counts of sexual battery regarding a person 12 to 19 years of age and was designated as a sexual predator.
