Staff report

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Eric Victor Ramos, 36, was arrested yesterday and charged with aggravated stalking after he allegedly send threats to a co-worker after being suspended from his job for carrying a concealed firearm at work.

Ramos and the victim are reportedly work acquaintances, and the victim had previously given her number to Ramos. On May 23, Ramos was reportedly seen carrying a concealed firearm at work, and he was subsequently suspended, pending investigation.

The same day, the victim started receiving calls and texts with messages like, “It’s up” and “It doesn’t have to be like this.” The messages also reportedly said she had messed up and that the sender knew her home and work addresses, along with the make and model of her car. One message said her life was “going to be hell.” Screenshots of the victim’s Facebook page, home address, and age were reportedly included in the messages.

When the victim asked who was sending the messages, the sender replied, “Ya nightmare hoe” and wrote that it wasn’t funny and it wasn’t a threat; it was a promise. Another message reportedly showed a picture of the victim’s daughter with a threat to “reach out to ya family.” When the victim said her daughter had nothing to do with this, the sender reportedly replied, “She does now.”

The victim also received threatening messages from other numbers, which the arresting Gainesville Police Department Officer identified as TextNow numbers. A voicemail from Ramos reportedly used the same “It’s up” phrase that was used in the first set of texts.

Ramos has five misdemeanor convictions (none violent). Judge Lorelie Brannan ordered him held without bail.

Articles about arrests are based on reports from law enforcement agencies. The charges listed are taken from the arrest report and/or court records and are only accusations. All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
