GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Tyler Marquis White, 29, was arrested yesterday after allegedly pointing a gun at his brother twice during a dispute over a phone.

A Gainesville Police Department officer responded to a call about an incident at 12:50 p.m. on April 23 and reported that White went to a residence in the 1300 block of SE 23rd Avenue because he was looking for his cell phone and believed his brother had taken it. The victim and a witness reportedly saw White walking toward the house through the carport area, and then White told the victim to come outside. The victim said that as he walked toward the door, he saw White, still in the carport, pointing a gun at him.

The witness told the officer that he tried to close the door, but White pushed it open and again pointed the gun at the victim. The witness reportedly said he saw White point the gun at the victim twice and described the gun as an all-black 9mm handgun.

Post Miranda, White reportedly said he went to the house because the victim stole his phone. He denied pointing a gun at the victim and said that although he owns an all-black Taurus G2C that was found at another family member’s house, he never used it.

The officer noted that he found no probable cause for the allegation that the victim took White’s cell phone.

White has been charged with domestic aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. He has no criminal history, and Judge Kristine Van Vorst set bail at $70,000.

Articles about arrests are based on reports from law enforcement agencies. The charges listed are taken from the arrest report and/or court records and are only accusations. All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
