HIGH SPRINGS, Fla. – Christian Glenn Rogers, 26, was arrested yesterday after allegedly pulling a gun in the drive-thru of the High Springs Hardee’s and threatening to shoot two people.
At about 5:50 p.m. on April 26, a High Springs Police Department officer responded to Hardee’s (19143 NW U.S. Hwy 441), where the victims said Rogers was in a vehicle at the drive-thru window when someone walked up to the window to cancel an order. According to an uninvolved witness, Rogers and his passenger got out of their vehicle and started to yell at the person who walked up to the window.
At that time, the two victims reportedly got out of their vehicle and confronted Rogers about the argument, and Rogers allegedly spat on the face of the first victim. Rogers reportedly said, “Try me” and then said if they did, he would kill them; he allegedly reached into his vehicle, pulled a firearm from under one of the seats, racked the slide, and pointed it at the victims. Rogers and his passenger then got into their vehicle and drove away northbound on CR 236.
A traffic stop was conducted on Rogers’s vehicle near the southbound exit of I-75 at mile marker 399, and a search of the vehicle reportedly produced a 9mm handgun under the passenger seat, with one round in the chamber and eight rounds in the magazine.
The stories of the two victims and the witness were reportedly consistent.
Post Miranda, Rogers reportedly said no gun was ever involved and the victims started the argument.
Rogers has been charged with battery and two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. He has no local criminal history; he has a DUI conviction and two convictions for driving without a valid license in Duval County. Judge Gloria Walker set bail at $10,000.
