A Florida man who allegedly stole a tour train and picked up passengers while he was high on methamphetamine later told cops it was his birthday.

According to an arrest report obtained by local ABC affiliate WPLG, police responded to reports from a Conch Tour Train Depot in Key West on July 4 that one of their trains had been stolen. The vehicle was being tracked around the city by the GPS monitor attached to it. When officers arrived, employees said that a man had arrived at the depot and claimed to be a former employee. The man asked if he could go on a tour of the Conch Train, and an employee obliged. Then the man allegedly drove off the property in the Conch Train.

That man was Jonathan Patrick Winslow, and he was celebrating his 57th birthday.

According to the arrest report, Winslow left his Kia at the depot, still running “with rock music playing on the radio.”

Winslow’s alleged joy ride did not last too long, just long enough for him to pick up “two random passengers” who may not have realized their Conch Train conductor was unauthorized. Police said that at some point, Winslow left the train, which was located without incident. They soon located Winslow, who was reportedly “excited” and speaking very rapidly.

Officers informed Winslow that he would be facing charges for taking the Conch Train, and he reportedly said he just “borrowed” it, adding that “today [was] his birthday.”
