Staff report

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Elijah Aaron Williams, 21, who is prohibited from possessing firearms as part of a pre-trial intervention agreement, was arrested yesterday after allegedly threatening to shoot a woman.

Williams was previously arrested in April 2022 on multiple charges after a stolen gun was found under his seat during a traffic stop. He entered into an 18-month pre-trial intervention agreement in October 2022 in which he agreed to live without breaking any laws and is prohibited from possessing any firearms.

Yesterday an Alachua County Sheriff’s Deputy responded to a call from a friend of a woman who said Williams had threatened to kill her with a gun during a FaceTime call while he was reportedly at Alachua County Court Services, completing his required community service hours. The woman’s friend reportedly took a photo of a gun that was stored in Williams’ bedroom.

The deputy made contact with Williams when he returned to his apartment, and post Miranda, Williams reportedly said he did not make any threats toward the woman.

The deputy attempted to get the Probation Office to respond to the apartment, but he was told nobody was available, so after consulting with the State Attorney’s Office, he charged Williams with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and unlawful use of a two-way communications device.

Williams has no criminal convictions other than the pre-trial intervention agreement. Judge Walter Green set bail at $15,000.

Articles about arrests are based on reports from law enforcement agencies. The charges listed are taken from the arrest report and/or court records and are only accusations. All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
