GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Clay Sanford George, 48, was arrested yesterday after allegedly walking down NW 13th Street, wearing only boxers, and exposing his genitals to passersby.
At about 7:24 p.m. on August 16, Gainesville Police Department officers responded to the intersection of NW 13th Street and NW 16th Avenue, where George had allegedly removed all of his clothing except his boxer briefs and then pulled the boxers down and masturbated as he walked along the sidewalk on NW 13th Street.
An officer reported that this behavior on a major roadway “was visible to both pedestrian and vehicular traffic, containing individuals of all ages, including children clearly under the age of 16. [George’s] unlawful actions affected the peace and quiet of numerous concerned citizens and outraged public decency, resulting in numerous calls to [911] from those reporting parties who observed his behavior.”
When officers arrived, George allegedly pulled down his boxers, grabbed his genitals, and began shaking them at the responding officers before throwing his hands up in the air and spinning, with his genitals still exposed. When officers reached him, he reportedly placed his hands behind his back, “clearly in an altered mental state,” and refused to provide any statements.
George has been charged with lewd or lascivious exhibition to victims under the age of 16 and disorderly conduct. He has 10 felony convictions (eight violent) and six misdemeanor convictions (one violent) and has served five state prison sentences, with his most recent release in September 2024. He is currently on drug offender probation. Judge Johnson set bail at $40,000.
