Staff report from Gainesville Police Department social media post

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Daniel R. Shaffer, 43, was arrested in Gainesville yesterday on a New York warrant for sexual battery of a child.

Yesterday afternoon, Gainesville Police Department officers responded to a call about three people trespassing at the pool at Garland Condominiums (951 NW 21st Avenue). Officers reported that one of the men provided a false name and struggled to spell the name he gave them, so Florida Highway Patrol was asked to assist with their Rapid ID system.

The man was positively identified as Shaffer, who had multiple active warrants that included a charge of capital sexual battery of a child out of Newark Village, NY. He was subsequently booked into the Alachua County Jail.
