Staff report

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Khloe Cathryn Davis, 22, and Troy Allen Gignac, 37, were arrested yesterday after the manager of a vacant Holly Heights apartment reported that a window was open and asked for the apartment to be cleared by law enforcement.

Multiple Alachua County Sheriff’s Deputies responded and gave announcements for anyone inside the apartment to come out. After three announcements were made, Davis and Gignac reportedly came down the stairs and out the front door. Deputies detained both men; Gignac reportedly said he had a pipe on him, and when he was asked whether it was a meth or crack pipe, he said it was a meth pipe.

Deputies did a protective sweep of the apartment and found no other occupants. The search reportedly produced two marijuana blunts, about 0.30 grams of cocaine, and about 0.78 grams of methamphetamines.

The maintenance manager reportedly estimated the damage at over $2,000, including two broken sliding glass doors, a broken lock and security bar on one door, two broken window balancers, and damage to a ceiling fan, stair banister, and blinds.

Post Miranda, Davis reportedly said he had smoked “molly” earlier in the day but didn’t have any other drugs on him. He reportedly said that he and Gignac had been in the apartment for about an hour after meeting on Grindr.

Post Miranda, Gignac reportedly said he had just met Davis on an app, that Davis had given him the address of the apartment, and that they had met there about an hour before deputies responded. Gignac reportedly said they entered through an open back door and that they had been upstairs hanging out and smoking the marijuana blunts. He said the pipe belonged to Davis and that he had picked it up on the way out of the apartment, but he was unaware of any other drugs in the apartment.

Both defendants have been charged with burglary, possession of less than 20 grams of marijuana, property damage over $1,000, cocaine possession, and methamphetamine possession. Gignac was also charged with possession of drug paraphernalia.

Davis has nine misdemeanor convictions (one violent) and four felony convictions (four violent). Judge David Kreider set bail at $21,000.

Gignac is on pre-trial release for a felony case in Bradford County and was reportedly wearing an ankle monitor; he has no criminal convictions. Judge David Kreider set bail at $95,000.

Articles about arrests are based on reports from law enforcement agencies. The charges listed are taken from the arrest report and/or court records and are only accusations. All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
