A California woman who was reported missing has been found dead at the home of a man police believe she might have been dating.

On Wednesday evening, family members reported 44-year-old Shondra Renee Zimmerman ,of Grass Valley, missing, according to the Nevada County Sheriff’s Office. The investigation led officers to 46-year-old Andrew Gall’s residence in Nevada City, where they found Zimmerman’s vehicle but no one home.

Just before 4 a.m. on Thursday, a Nevada County Sheriff’s Office deputy attempted a traffic stop of Gall’s vehicle in Grass Valley. Gall refused to stop and subsequently led the Grass Valley Police Department and the Nevada City Police Department on a chase.

Gall crashed near Washington Road on Highway 20 and was taken to Sierra Nevada Memorial Hospital for evaluation. Once medically cleared, Gall was taken into custody and booked into Wayne Brown Correctional Facility for reckless evasion of a police officer (VC 2800.2(A)), felony violation of parole (PC 3056), and DUI (PC 23152(A)), according to an NCSO media release.

After Gall’s arrest, his residence was searched, and Zimmerman’s body was located.

According to the Megan’s Law website, Gall has a criminal history and was convicted of rape in 2005; he was released in 2018, KCRA reported.

This is an open investigation, and the cause of death is still pending.
