Missing Indiana Woman’s Husband Coming Back to Face Gun Charge

Xavier Breland has been in jail for stalking his ex-wife since shortly after his current wife, Ciera Breland, disappeared.

An Indiana man facing charges in Georgia may be extradited back to Indiana to face charges there — but neither state has charged him in the disappearance of his wife nearly a year ago, although he is considered a “person of interest.”

Ciera Breland, 31, was last seen driving away from her father’s home in John’s Creek, Georgia, on February 24, 2022, as CrimeOnline previously reported. Her husband, Xavier Breland, reported her missing on February 26, telling investigators he last saw her in Carmel, Indiana, on that date when she walked to a store in below freezing temperatures, wearing shorts and leaving her wallet and cell phone at home.

Xavier Breland was later taken into custody on an unrelated warrant and extradited to Coweta County, Georgia, where he has been charged with stalking his ex-wife.

Investigators confiscated two guns during a search of the home on the day Cierra Breland was reported missing and a third one the next day when they responded to a call about an “accidental discharge” of a weapon, Fox News reported. The Carmel Police Department is now seeking to have him returned to Indiana to face a charge of unlawful possession of a firearm by a serious violent felon in connection with the “accidental discharge.”

“I want to make it clear, that is not in relation to the missing persons case,” Carmel Police Lt. Tim Byrne said.

Both Brelands and their then 5-month-old baby visited with her father last February in Georgia. It’s not known if Xavier Breland or the baby were in the car when she reportedly left there on February 24.
