Authorities have officially classified the disappearance of a Pennsylvania woman earlier this month as a homicide, investigators announced on Tuesday.
The Philadelphia police department revealed to WPVI that its homicide unit is actively probing the mysterious vanishing of Kada Scott. Previously, searches were conducted at the Awbury Arboretum for clues regarding Scott’s disappearance. However, the police have not disclosed whether findings from this location influenced the decision to pursue a homicide investigation.
Meanwhile, WTXF reports that the FBI has joined forces with local law enforcement to delve into Scott’s case, underscoring the seriousness of the situation.
Deputy Commissioner Frank Vanore stated that they suspect Scott, aged 23, did not disappear of her own accord. Despite this, he refrained from confirming whether any criminal activity is suspected at this stage.
Scott was last seen departing early from her overnight shift at a nursing home on October 4. Her vehicle was subsequently discovered parked at the nursing home, adding to the mystery surrounding her disappearance.
Philadelphia Police Captain John Craig said Scott does not have a history of disappearing, and her co-workers did not notice anything out of the ordinary before she vanished.
However, Craig also claimed that Scott told her family about someone harassing her over the phone shortly before she vanished. Police said they are unsure who the caller was, but they are investigating.
Scott reportedly left home with her car keys, iPad, iPhone, and iWatch. Her phone has been shut off, so cops cannot track her location.
Scott was described as standing 5 feet, 6 inches tall and weighing about 120 pounds. Anyone with information regarding this case should call Philadelphia police at 215-686-3353.
