In a troubling development out of Missouri, a state trooper has been suspended and faces serious allegations following charges of rape brought against him by the West Plains police.
The case centers around Ethan Minge, who is reported to have visited a woman’s residence on July 27. According to court documents, the woman alleges that Minge attempted to initiate sexual intercourse with her. Despite her persistent refusals, he is accused of forcing her onto her back and committing the act of rape, as detailed by KMBC.
Following the incident, the woman claims Minge sent her a text message the next day, in which he purportedly acknowledged her resistance and offered an apology, according to the affidavit.
It wasn’t until October that the woman decided to formally report the assault, as noted by KRCG.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol, in response to the allegations, announced that Minge has been placed on administrative leave. Minge joined their ranks in January 2024 and was serving with Troop G at the time of the incident.
“We are aware of the arrest of Trooper Ethan Minge following a criminal investigation by the West Plains Police Department,” said MSHP Public Information and Education Division Captain Scott White.
“In accordance with Patrol policy, our Professional Standards Division has been notified of the incident. While the administrative review process continues, Trooper Minge is on administrative leave with no pay, effective December 9.”
Minge pleaded not guilty in his initial court appearance and was given a $10,000 bond, KMBC said. He is not currently listed on a jail roster.
