A 21-year-old Louisiana mother is in jail after authorities found she had beaten her 4-year-old child with a plastic utensil and dressed them in a plastic trash bag.

The Allen Parish Sheriff’s Office said it responded to a 911 call on Thursday from a witness to the mistreatment and found the child with injuries to the back and leg, apparently caused by being struck by something several times, KPLC reported.

In the course of the investigation, deputies determined that the child had been punshed by Haily Bellard with a plastic utensil and dressed in the trash bag.

Investigators did not say what prompted the punishment.

The child was taken to a hospital for treatment and later released, but police did not say who the child was released to.

Bellard was charged with cruelty to juveniles, aggravated battery, and domestic abuse battery.

Bond has not been set.
