A troubling incident unfolded in Florida as a mother allegedly assaulted her teenage daughter during a heated argument over household chores. The confrontation, which authorities describe as stemming from a disagreement about “cleaning a mess,” has led to child abuse charges against the mother.

Jamika Jackson, a 36-year-old resident of Miami, is at the center of this case. The altercation reportedly took place just a day before Thanksgiving, involving her 16-year-old daughter. According to the police, the dispute escalated from a verbal disagreement into a physical confrontation.

The criminal complaint provides a detailed account of the incident, stating that the daughter initiated a verbal dispute over housework, which provoked a violent response from Jackson. The document claims Jackson slapped her daughter across the mouth with an open hand, then proceeded to throw her onto the floor.

Further details in the report indicate that Jackson allegedly choked her daughter from behind, impairing the teenager’s ability to breathe. The specifics of whether the initial assault involved an open or closed fist remain unclear, as noted in the complaint.

As the legal proceedings unfold, this case highlights the severe consequences of domestic conflicts, particularly when they involve family members. It serves as a stark reminder of the importance of addressing disputes through non-violent means.

According to a witness, the victim pleaded with her mom to stop.

“The witness stated that the defendant while in this position [bit] the victim on the arm,” the complaint says.

The girl suffered multiple injuries, according to police.

“The victim sustained a small laceration to the inside of her mouth, a minor abrasion to her throat, and a puncture wound in the shape of a bite mark on her left arm,” the complaint noted.

After receiving her Miranda rights, Jackson allegedly “admitted to become upset with her daughter because of her bad attitude towards her.” The woman reportedly told police that she did indeed slap the girl and throw her on the floor.

“The defendant confessed to putting the victim in a choke hold, and that she heard the victim stating that she was having difficulty breathing,” the complaint says.

Court records show that Jackson has pleaded not guilty. She has an arraignment hearing scheduled on Jan. 23.
