A chaotic scene unfolded in a Pennsylvania mall parking lot when a physical altercation involving four women led to a child being hurled from a stroller, according to local authorities.
Twenty-six-year-old Oreil Dykes now faces serious charges including endangering the welfare of a child, a felony, as well as a misdemeanor charge of simple assault, as reported by the Lower Allen Township Police Department. Additionally, Carrie Bowman, 46, Kajah George, 30, and Messiah Cloud, 21, have all been charged with misdemeanor simple assault for their involvement in the incident.
The confrontation took place around midday on Saturday outside the Capital City Mall located in Camp Hill, Pennsylvania. Surveillance footage revealed the four women engaging in a mutual fight in the parking lot. Dykes, who was accompanied by her infant, left the child unattended in a stroller in the midst of the fracas.
Authorities noted that after initially leaving the child, Dykes returned but instead of ensuring the child’s safety, she brought the infant into the brawl. In the course of the melee, she kicked at another participant, causing the stroller to tip over, and the unrestrained child was consequently thrown onto the pavement.
Upon arriving at the scene, police engaged with George and Cloud, observing they had injuries on their knuckles and faces. Dykes and Bowman were subsequently identified as key participants in the altercation.
Authorities did not divulge what started the fight or who was on whose side. Dykes was arrested on Saturday, while the other three women were not arrested until Wednesday.
Dykes has a preliminary hearing in her case scheduled for Jan. 15. The other three women do not have a case listed in court records stemming from the Saturday incident.
